Itajai is located in north-central coast of Santa Catarina State near the mouth of the Itajai-Acu River. The city lies in a strategic region of Santa Catarina territory, located on the right bank of the longest river in the state, includes a shaft connecting with the main highways and airports in Brazil.
The city has the second largest GNP in the state, due to the most important economic sectors such as logistics, construction, industrial and port complex activities, being the second largest country in container handling. Itajai is constantly growing, especially in new growth markets such as oil, gas and marine. With more than 180 000 inhabitants, is also a place of historical, cultural and traditional. During the year the city has a tradition of folkloric festivals, offering food, culture and entertainment to the residents and also tourists.
